This June, join University of Oxford and UCLA Professor and scholar Brenda Stevenson for a discussion of her latest book exploring the cultural beliefs and practices that sustained enslaved African American families from the early colonial period to post-Civil War emancipation. Stevenson's extensive research helps to explain the ways in which gender, generation, location, slave labor, the economic status of slaveholders and slave societies’ laws affected the black family in slavery. via Zoom.
