Meet Mike Dawson, the award-winning New York Times contributor and author of the middle-grade graphic novel series The Fifth Quarter. Enjoy Mike’s colorful and informative assembly presentation, that teaches kids the Nuts & Bolts of cartooning and explains how writers and artists can generate new ideas by continually creating work about the world around them. Following the assembly, Mike will lead participants through a hands-on cartooning workshop. Children will design their own characters, learn how to write using drawings, and tell their own stories using the language of comics.
